Doha, Qatar: Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar, has soared to the number one position on the prestigious Skytrax World Airport Awards 2024 list. This marks a significant victory for Doha, dethroning Singapore’s Changi Airport, a 12-time champion.

The Skytrax ranking relies on a comprehensive survey conducted between August 2023 and March 2024, gathering feedback from travelers on various airport services. Check-in experiences, immigration procedures, shopping options, and overall satisfaction were all evaluated.

This triumph isn’t Hamad International Airport’s first. It previously secured the coveted title in both 2021 and 2022, solidifying its position as a leader in passenger experience.

The news extends beyond the top honor. Hong Kong International Airport saw a remarkable 22-place jump to 11th, reflecting the city’s recovery from the pandemic and increased air traffic. However, New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport faced a decline, dropping five spots to 93rd place. London’s Heathrow Airport managed a slight improvement, climbing one position to 21st.

Hamad International Airport’s dominance extends further. It also bagged the title of “World’s Best Airport Shopping,” while Changi Airport retained its crown for “Best Airport Immigration Services.”

Celebrating the achievement, Engineer Badr Mohammed Al Meer, CEO of Qatar Airways Group, expressed his gratitude towards travelers for their vote of confidence. He emphasized the airport’s commitment to providing seamless experiences for global travelers and acknowledged the dedication of staff and partners in creating a world-class travel experience, reported Al Qabas.
