This has been a pain point for WhatsApp users for years. Previously, making a call required saving the contact information first, which could be cumbersome and raise privacy concerns.

Here’s how the new feature works:

  • A new “Dialer” button will appear within the Calls tab.
  • Users can simply enter the number they want to call and initiate the call directly.
  • The option to save the number as a new contact or send a message is also available after dialing.

Benefits of the new feature:

  • Convenience: Saves time and eliminates unnecessary steps.
  • Privacy: Users don’t have to save numbers they only need to call once.
  • Cleanliness: Keeps your address book free of clutter.

Current Availability:

This feature is currently being tested with a limited group of beta users on Android version 2.24.13.17. If successful, it’s expected to be rolled out to all users in a future update.

Looking Ahead:

This is just one of many exciting new features WhatsApp is testing. Stay tuned for more updates on how WhatsApp is constantly evolving to improve the user experience!
