As of December 10th, 2023, Kuwait has successfully transitioned to a fully digital driver’s license system for residents. Physical licenses are no longer issued for expats, with the easily accessible “Kuwait Mobile ID” app serving as the official digital license repository. Residents can conveniently verify their license status and validity within the app, with a clear visual indicator (green signifying active status, red for expiration) ensuring ease of use.

The Ministry of Interior website and the “Sahel” app, a unified platform designed to simplify access to government services, now handle all driver’s license renewals electronically. Applicants who meet the established criteria can submit their applications electronically and receive prompt approvals for their licenses.
