The Ministry of Hajj has issued a pre-Ramadan advisory reminding pilgrims, referred to as “Guests of God,” to adhere to the regulations on banned items. Fireworks, laser pointers, counterfeit currency, and any medications not accompanied by a valid prescription are strictly prohibited. It is to ensure public safety and a smooth pilgrimage experience for all.

Ramadan is expected to draw a significant number of pilgrims. Saudi authorities have outlined several measures to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for everyone. To prevent overcrowding, authorities will not be issuing permits for pilgrims to perform Umrah multiple times within the holy month. Pilgrims are encouraged to undertake only one Umrah to facilitate crowd management. Specific zones around the Kaaba and on the ground floor of the Grand Mosque will be allocated for Umrah pilgrims to perform their rituals. Dedicated entry and exit gates will be designated for pilgrims to streamline movement and prevent congestion within the Grand Mosque.

Muslims holding personal, visit, and tourist visas can now undertake Umrah. Also visit the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina, after booking an e-appointment. Also, the validity period for Umrah visas has been extended from 30 to 90 days. This provides pilgrims with more flexibility in their journey. Female pilgrims are no longer required to be accompanied by a male guardian. Making it easier for women to perform Umrah independently.

Expatriates residing in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries can apply for a tourist visa and perform Umrah, regardless of their profession. This simplifies the process for residents in neighboring countries to participate in Umrah. These measures aim to ensure a safe, secure, and fulfilling Umrah experience for all pilgrims visiting the holy city of Makkah during Ramadan and throughout the year, reported Arab Times.
