Kuwait City, Kuwait: The Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy (MEW) forecasts its revenue to surpass 500 million Kuwaiti dinars for the fiscal year concluding in April 2024.

This projection follows the Ministry’s successful collection of approximately 400 million dinars. It is within the first ten months of the fiscal year, commencing April 1, 2023. Notably, January 2024 witnessed a significant collection of 70 million dinars.

MEW attributes this positive financial performance to several key initiatives, including:

• Enhanced revenue collection: The Ministry has implemented a successful strategy by linking its billing systems with the Ministry of Interior. This collaboration ensures that expatriates settle any outstanding electricity and water dues before departing Kuwait.
• Streamlined customer services: The Ministry has prioritized customer satisfaction by expanding its portfolio of electronic services. It is offered through the customer affairs sector. Additionally, the establishment of new customer service offices, particularly in remote areas, has improved accessibility for residents.

Planned Maintenance to Briefly Impact Power Supply

In a separate announcement, MEW advised residents of upcoming maintenance works scheduled for completion by April 20th. These essential works will involve secondary substations across all six Kuwaiti governorates. It may necessitate temporary power outages between 8:00 AM and noon in affected areas.

The specific areas potentially impacted include Bayan, the capital, Al-Ardiya, Sabah Al-Salem, Al-Qusour, Mahboula, Al-Jahra, Al-Nuzha, Al-Andalus, Jaber Al-Ali, and Al-Masayel. The Ministry emphasizes that the duration of outages may vary depending on the complexity of maintenance required at each substation.

These proactive maintenance efforts are part of MEW’s ongoing commitment to strengthening and ensuring the reliability of the national electricity grid, reported Al Jarida.
