Kuwait: The Republic of Malawi has expressed renewed interest in supplying domestic workers to Kuwait. A recent visit by a Malawian delegation to the Kuwaiti embassies in the Philippines, Ethiopia, and Kenya underscores this intention. The delegation’s objective was to gather firsthand knowledge on the challenges and best practices associated with domestic worker recruitment in these countries.

This development follows a 2016 proposal from the Malawian government to establish a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Kuwait specifically concerning domestic worker recruitment. While the signing of this MOU was previously delayed due to unforeseen obstacles, Malawian officials are now expressing renewed optimism. They plan to present their recommendations to their relevant ministries, the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to expedite the process and pave the way for Malawian domestic workers to enter the Kuwaiti market, reported Al Rai daily.
