Kuwaiti Roads See Surge in Accidents and Violations: Authorities Call for Caution

Kuwait: Kuwait’s road safety faces a worrying trend as the General Traffic Department releases its latest statistics. A concerning number of accidents and violations were reported during the week of April 20th to 26th.

  • Alarming Accident Rates: A total of 1,542 accidents occurred, with 248 classified as serious. Thankfully, 1,394 were minor accidents with no reported injuries or fatalities.
  • Traffic Violations Rampant: Authorities issued a staggering 23,744 citations for various offenses. This included apprehending 35 juveniles driving without licenses and detaining 36 individuals for severe violations.
  • Crackdown on Violators: Traffic police conducted extensive campaigns across all six governorates, resulting in the impounding of 200 vehicles and motorcycles.

A recent collision involving two vehicles highlighted the potential consequences of reckless driving. Two individuals were critically injured and rushed to Al-Adan Hospital.

The General Traffic Department urges all motorists to prioritize safety. Exercising caution, adhering to traffic laws, and staying vigilant can significantly reduce accidents and fatalities on Kuwaiti roads, reported Arab Times.
