Kuwait: The Department of Intellectual Property Rights and Patent Protection in Kuwait processed a significant number of patents in 2023, highlighting a growing culture of innovation in the country.

According to statistics obtained by Al-Anbaa, roughly 35,700 patent applications were submitted by individuals and companies throughout the year. This figure represents a substantial portion of the department’s total transactions, which reached approximately 61,600 in 2023. The surge in patent filings resulted in fees collected amounting to nearly 5.8 million Kuwaiti dinars.

The data also revealed that the department received a total of approximately 35,700 applications for various intellectual property protections, including patents, trademark registrations, and publications, during the same period. These applications generated fees of approximately 3.45 million dinars. These statistics suggest a positive trend in Kuwait’s innovation ecosystem, with a growing emphasis on protecting intellectual property rights.
