Kuwaiti Editor’s Photo Wins Big At Berlin Tourism Fair: Captures “Wadi Durbat’s” Allure!

Berlin, Germany: Kuwaiti photographer Mohammad Al-Kanderi has secured a prestigious honor at the Berlin International Tourism Trade (ITB). It is one of the world’s leading travel fairs. The Arab Union for Tourism Media (AUTM) announced Al-Kanderi as the co-winner of the “Travel Photo of the Year 2024” award. This is for his captivating image titled “Wadi Durbat.”

Al-Kanderi, who works as an editor for the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA). He captured the essence of “Wadi Durbat,” which translates to “Salalah Valley,” highlighting its picturesque natural beauty. This image, published in a KUNA article, shared the top prize with a photograph by Iraqi photographer Hikmat Al-Ayashi.

The AUTM competition attracted 16 participants from across the Arab world, vying for recognition in various categories, including the best travel report, the best travel short video, and the coveted best travel photo. A rigorous judging panel evaluated submissions based on criteria including accuracy of information, the image’s influence, and its potential to promote tourism within Arab nations.

Al-Kanderi’s achievement brings recognition to both his artistic talent and the captivating landscapes of Salalah. This award win serves as a testament to the power of photography to showcase the beauty of the Arab world and inspire travel exploration.
