Kuwait Schools Relax Rules on Staff Staying After Hours

Kuwait City, Kuwait: The Kuwaiti Ministry of Education announced a new policy change allowing teachers and administrative staff to remain at school after official working hours, if necessary. This comes after concerns raised by the Teachers Association regarding previous restrictions on staff presence outside of regular school hours.

“We appreciate the Ministry of Education listening to our concerns,” said Hamad Al-Houli, President of the Teachers Association. “This new policy will allow staff to better manage their workload and ensure essential tasks are completed.”

Under the new guidelines, staff can stay late for legitimate work reasons, including:

  • Testing and monitoring (presumably student performance)
  • Completing administrative duties
  • Addressing security and safety needs

However, staff will need to obtain approval from their educational district to stay after hours. Additionally, supervisors must be aware of who is working late, and all staff presence needs to be documented for record-keeping purposes.

This policy change aims to improve school operations and provide staff with more flexibility to manage their work schedules.
