The Indian Embassy in Kuwait has released details on how to obtain Emergency Certificates (ECs) for those who lost their passports and wish to return to India under Kuwait’s recently announced Amnesty scheme.

Here’s what you need to do:

• Apply for a Token: Tokens are required to apply for ECs. These are issued at the Indian Consular Application Centers (BLS) – not the Embassy itself.
• For Existing Applicants with Tokens: If you already have a filled EC form and a token obtained before March 21st, 2024, visit your designated BLS Center on the date mentioned in your token to submit your application and pay the fee. BLS centers will only accept existing token holders between March 21 and April 8, 2024.
• After Submission: Following submission at BLS, visit the Embassy on the specified working day and time for an interview and to collect your EC.
• For New Applicants: If you don’t have a token, visit a BLS center between 2pm and 4pm on any working day (except Fridays) to get a token for submitting your EC application. Tokens are issued for the next available dates. Those without tokens will only be accommodated after April 8th, 2024, if slots are available.

Important Reminders:

• Ensure all details on your EC form are filled correctly. Incorrect forms will be rejected.
• To reissue an expired passport and stay in Kuwait under the Amnesty scheme, visit a BLS center with the required documents, fees, new Sponsor’s Civil ID, and a signed undertaking from your new sponsor.
