The planned meeting aims to bridge the gap between the two nations. Also pave the way for Filipino workers to return to Kuwait. Al-Ali expressed optimism about the talks, particularly due to the involvement of Philippines Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac.

Filipino workers hold a significant share of Kuwait’s domestic workforce, making up roughly half of the total. Al-Ali emphasized their importance to Kuwaiti families, who value their communication skills, educational background, and understanding of local customs. He highlighted the difficulty of replacing them, making Filipino workers highly sought after.

Al-Ali urged relevant government bodies to expedite the meeting and reach comprehensive agreements. These discussions are crucial in addressing prior issues that led to the deployment ban. He commended Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister, for his openness to welcoming Filipino workers under proper legal frameworks.

Looking beyond the Philippines, Al-Ali also stressed the importance of diversifying sources of domestic workers through memorandums of understanding with multiple labor-exporting countries. This, he argued, would help control recruitment costs and maintain market stability if any single country were to halt worker deployments, reported Al Jarida daily.
