This is a significant change as domestic workers typically have limited job mobility. Under the new law, domestic workers who have completed at least one year of service with their current employer will be eligible to transfer their work permit to the private sector.

The good news doesn’t stop there. Workers can move to various sectors, including government projects, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and more. However, it’s important to note that their initial employer must approve the transfer.

This move to the private sector comes with full labor rights, ensuring better working conditions and protections for domestic workers.

This new law is expected to be implemented by the end of the week and offers a promising pathway for domestic workers seeking new opportunities and better working conditions in Kuwait, reported Arab Times.
