Al-Ajari Center: Kuwait’s sky will witness a group of astronomical phenomena this month

Al-Ajari Scientific Center said today, Wednesday, that the current month of September will witness a group of astronomical phenomena that will decorate the skies of Kuwait starting from dawn Thursday.

The center added in a press statement to the Kuwait News Agency that the first of these phenomena is the arrival of the planet Mercury at its maximum western elongation from the sun, and it will be at its highest point above the horizon in the eastern sky at dawn, just before sunrise, and will disappear with sunrise.

The center explained that the moon will be seen today in conjunction with the planet Venus, the brightest planet in the solar system, as this conjunction can be seen with the naked eye immediately after sunset towards the west, indicating that the moon and Venus will be adjacent in the sky until the beginning of their sunset in the early hours of the night.Stay updated on Kuwait’s latest news and job openings by following our WhatsApp channel! https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaCkXo25q08jnKrRwo27

He pointed out that the moon will appear the following day in conjunction with the star Spica, known as the “Archangel”, and can be seen with the naked eye immediately after sunset and until the early hours of the night.

He pointed out that the Kuwaiti sky will be adorned on September 8 with a rare astronomical phenomenon, as Saturn will be in opposition to the sun, i.e. at its closest point to the Earth, and its face will be completely illuminated by the sun and will remain visible throughout the night, brighter and more luminous than at any other time of the year.

He explained that the moon will appear in conjunction on September 10 with the giant star Antares, known as Antares, immediately after sunset. This conjunction can be seen with the naked eye, and this scene will continue until sunset.
