This standardized labeling system employs red, yellow, and green colors to provide clear visual cues on the levels of energy, fats, saturated fats, sugars, and salt present in a product, expressed as percentages. This simplified approach aims to empower consumers to make informed dietary decisions and effectively manage their fat and calorie intake.
The FNGA initiative aligns with the goals of Kuwait Vision 2035 and adheres to World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations. It constitutes a key component of a broader strategy to promote healthier eating habits, combat obesity, and prevent chronic non-communicable diseases linked to nutrition.
Spearheaded by the Community Nutrition Affairs Sector, the program actively seeks participation from all national food companies producing packaged goods within Kuwait. This collaborative approach fosters community partnerships. Also encourages engagement from food manufacturers, producers, and importers in promoting sustainable development practices within the food industry.
By implementing this transparent and user-friendly labeling system, the FNGA empowers Kuwaiti consumers to take greater control of their health. This initiative equips them with the knowledge necessary to make informed dietary choices. It contributes to a healthier and more balanced lifestyle, reported Arab Times.
