On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, some Sahel users reported experiencing a temporary slowdown in the app’s functionality. This occurred following the addition of a new service by the Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha). The update involved a large volume of data related to citizen financial disclosures.
In accordance with its programming, the Sahel app automatically broadcasted a notification to all its registered users – exceeding 1.7 million – to inform them of the new service. This surge in activity resulted in a temporary performance bottleneck, potentially causing accessibility issues for certain app features for a limited timeframe.
The Communications Department emphasizes that the slowdown was not the result of a security breach. The Sahel app’s functionality has since been restored, and all services are now operating normally.
