Experts attribute the extreme heat to drought and climate change. Meteorologist Issa Ramadan reports these record-breaking temperatures are 4-5 degrees Celsius above average. This intense heatwave is caused by a combination of factors: the Indian monsoon low-pressure system, dry hot winds from northern deserts, and global climate shifts potentially influenced by El Niño. Ramadan compared the current situation to weather patterns observed in 1997 and 1998.
However, there’s good news! Northwesterly winds are expected to kick in today, bringing some relief. These winds will blow moderately to actively through Monday, causing dust but also leading to a decrease in temperatures, returning them to normal levels by Sunday or Monday.

Looking ahead, Ramadan predicts a return of high humidity next Thursday evening as winds shift southeasterly. This shift will bring back rising temperatures and oppressive heat through the following week, reported Al Qabas daily.
