Kuwait’s Young Tech Stars Head to World Robotics Championship

Kuwait City, Kuwait: The Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity (SACGC), under the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), announced the participation of several Kuwaiti student teams in the upcoming World Robotics Championship. The prestigious competition will be held in Dallas, Texas, from April 25th to May 3rd, 2024. This brings together over 1,800 teams from across the globe.

These qualifying teams hail from a variety of esteemed institutions. This includes Kuwait University, the American University in the Middle East. Also SACGC’s own talent and creativity programs, Ibn Al-Ameed Secondary School, the International English School in Kuwait. And the American Baccalaureate Middle School.

The World Robotics Championship presents a unique opportunity for these young minds to engage in a global exchange of knowledge and experiences. By competing on this international platform, the teams will showcase their robotics expertise. Also hone their critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities through interaction with diverse cultures and innovative ideas.

“This participation serves as a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to solidify Kuwait’s position as a leader in technological innovation and artificial intelligence at the international level,” stated Dr. Nada Al-Daihani, Director General of SACGC.

Expressing his pride in the students’ achievements, Mr. Walid Al-Khashti, CEO of Relations and Corporate Affairs at Zain Kuwait, commented, “Their qualification for the World Robotics Championship is a testament to the thriving environment for nurturing creativity and fostering a spirit of innovation amongst Kuwaiti students.”

The upcoming competition promises an exciting display of talent and ingenuity. And the Kuwaiti teams vie for recognition on the world stage. Their participation reflects the growing importance placed on STEM education. Includes Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Within Kuwait and its commitment to developing the next generation of technological leaders.
