The Ministry is proactively addressing the increased demand and preparing for even higher loads anticipated this summer. Forecasts predict peak loads could reach 17,600 megawatts in the coming months.
To mitigate potential power outages, the Ministry is implementing key measures, including:
- Securing an additional 500 megawatts of power from the Gulf network starting in June. This additional capacity will be critical as temperatures are expected to climb further, potentially reaching 50°C (122°F).
The Ministry emphasizes its commitment to ensuring a reliable electricity supply throughout the summer. These efforts will help to maintain critical infrastructure and public services during the hottest months of the year, reported Al Jarida.
