According to an educational source quoted by Al-Rai newspaper, the ministry has received applications from around 2,000 teachers for various specializations. However, a significant number – roughly 90% – have failed written tests or interviews.

The source revealed that the public education sector recently amended the replacement lists, adding and removing names based on teacher qualifications and needs in government schools. These revised lists are pending official approval.

The Ministry acknowledges the difficulty in attracting qualified expatriate teachers. Discussions are underway between the administrative and public education sectors to identify appropriate solutions. The source emphasizes the need for teachers with strong academic backgrounds, considering they are graduates of colleges specializing in education.

The Ministry’s struggle to fill these vacancies raises concerns about potential teacher shortages in Kuwaiti public schools. Addressing the issue of low pass rates in qualification tests and interviews will be crucial in securing sufficient qualified educators for the upcoming academic year.
