Kuwait City, Kuwait: Kuwait City secured eighth place among Arab and Gulf cities according to the 2024 World Cities Index released by Oxford Economics. Globally, the city ranked 293rd. New York City, with its massive population and robust economy, took the top spot.

The World Cities Index evaluates cities across five key categories: economy, human capital, quality of life, environment, and governance. New York’s exceptional economic performance, including significant GDP size, growth, and diversification, significantly influenced its overall ranking.
On the Arab city leaderboard for 2024, Abu Dhabi emerged victorious, placing a noteworthy 54th globally. Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman shared the 92nd position worldwide. Riyadh followed closely behind as the third-ranked Arab city (118th globally), with Dammam at 189th and Al Ain at 218th.
Jeddah and Doha secured sixth and seventh positions among Arab cities, translating to 257th and 262nd globally, respectively. Cairo (327th globally), Makkah (339th globally), and Manama (353rd globally) rounded out the top Arab cities. Taif completed the list at 373rd globally.

While Kuwait City may not have reached the top ranks, its placement reflects a positive standing among Arab and Gulf counterparts. London achieved the second-place global position, excelling in the human capital category due to its concentration of prestigious universities and businesses, despite facing issues like high housing costs and a less diverse economy.
