Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Campaign: Power Cut to 34 Homes, 147 Arrested

Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef spearheaded a major multi-agency security campaign targeting illegal commercial operations inside residential properties in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area. The five-day campaign, conducted with the participation of several government bodies, aimed to restore order and enforce regulations in the densely populated district.

Authorities identified 40 properties violating commercial regulations and issued 89 citations for operating unlicensed businesses. Among the immediate actions taken, Sheikh Al-Yousef ordered the power supply cut off to 34 homes found in serious violation of the law. Official warnings and reports were filed in coordination with the relevant government entities.

The campaign also led to the arrest of 147 individuals, including 29 absconders, 117 residency and labor law violators, and one individual wanted in a theft case. All detainees have been referred to the appropriate authorities for legal proceedings.

Sources confirmed to Al-Rai that there is a zero-tolerance policy toward violations that threaten public safety and security. Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, they emphasized, will no longer be an exception to law enforcement efforts. Homeowners found misusing their properties for illegal commercial activity will be held fully accountable under the law.

Serious violations were uncovered during the campaign, with many residential homes covertly operating as illegal restaurants and food preparation facilities under unsanitary and unsafe conditions. Officials warned that such environments pose high risks of food contamination and public health crises, which place unnecessary strain on healthcare services.

The campaign reflects a broader government strategy of inter-agency coordination and unified action, replacing isolated efforts by individual departments. The authorities reaffirmed their commitment to continuing field operations under a comprehensive national plan to restore order in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and eliminate unsafe and illegal practices.
