Kuwait City, Kuwait: The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health has revamped its fee structure and exemption policy for primary healthcare services. Here’s a breakdown of the key changes:

Who Gets Free Treatment?

  • Bedoun residents with valid IDs
  • Children of Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis
  • Non-Kuwaiti husbands of Kuwaiti women
  • Citizens from the Cooperation Council with valid identification
  • Scholarship students
  • Residents of social care homes
  • Children under 18 diagnosed with cancer in Kuwait
  • Non-Kuwaiti children under 12 with severe disabilities
  • Prison inmates
  • Residents of domestic worker shelters
  • Members of official delegations
  • Transit passengers

Who Pays, and How Much?

  • Non-Kuwaiti visitors without health insurance: 10 dinars
  • Non-Kuwaiti residents with health insurance: 2 dinars (service fee) + 5 dinars (treatment fee) (includes diplomats)
  • Illegal residents without valid IDs: 10 dinars
  • Domestic workers: 1 dinar (covers all services and treatments)
  • Ministry employees and their families: 2 dinars (service fee) + 5 dinars (treatment fee) (except radiology and nuclear medicine)

Ministry Streamlines Public Relations for Better Service

In a separate move, the Ministry aims to improve administrative efficiency. Public relations and media departments across health institutions will now report directly to a central director. This restructuring aligns with international best practices, aiming to enhance communication and service quality, reported Arab Times.
