Sales volume dropped by 26.6%, translating to roughly 194.8 tons less fish sold compared to the same period in 2023. The total amount of fish sold went from 732.85 tons to 538 tons.

The value of fish sales also decreased, falling by 20.8% from 1.64 million Kuwaiti dinars to 1.29 million dinars.

However, despite the drop in sales volume and value, the average price per kilogram of fish saw a rise of 7.8%, increasing from 2.23 dinars to 2.4 dinars.

The report provided a monthly breakdown of sales:

  • January: 176.7 tons sold, valued at 421.8 thousand dinars (average price: 2.38 dinars/kg)
  • February: 199.34 tons sold, valued at 468.6 thousand dinars (average price: 2.35 dinars/kg)
  • March: 161.96 tons sold, valued at 408.5 thousand dinars (average price: 2.52 dinars/kg)

This data indicates a concerning trend in Kuwait’s fish market. Further analysis is needed to understand the factors behind the decline in sales volume and value, alongside the rise in prices. This will help determine the impact on the market and consumers.
