KUDLO Chairman Khaled Al-Dakhnan said a delegation will visit the Philippines next month to discuss recruitment procedures with local agencies. He also expressed hope to expand recruitment to include workers from more countries.

Efforts to Address Worker Concerns Appreciated

The lifting of the ban comes after efforts by the Philippine government, including Congressman Ron P. Salo, who visited Kuwait in June. Salo commended Kuwait’s commitment to improving protections for Filipino workers.

Challenges Faced by Filipino Workers

The visa ban significantly impacted Filipinos seeking employment in Kuwait. It also affected existing Filipino workers and businesses due to reduced clientele.

Looking Ahead

The Philippine government remains committed to ensuring the well-being of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Kuwait. Both countries are working to address underlying issues that may lead workers to leave their employers.

Additional Information

  • The number of Filipino workers in Kuwait has decreased from 268,000 to 245,000 since the ban.
  • Half of Kuwait’s domestic labor force is Filipino.
