Since the system’s launch, authorities have seized a significant number of vehicles – 176 to be exact. These vehicles were either reported stolen or lacked valid insurance.

This initiative is just one part of a broader traffic safety plan rolled out by the Traffic Operations Sector. The plan aims to tackle several issues, including:

  • Uninsured drivers: The camera technology is specifically designed to identify vehicles without valid insurance.
  • Juvenile driving: With summer break approaching, officials are cracking down on unlicensed juveniles behind the wheel. Last week alone, 18 juveniles were apprehended.
  • Overall traffic violations: Traffic enforcement efforts yielded a total of 31,86 violations registered last week.

The plan has also resulted in the arrest of:

  • 43 reckless drivers
  • 31 individuals wanted for various offenses, including residency violations
  • 3 individuals for drug use

Authorities are confident that this comprehensive approach will lead to safer roads for everyone in Kuwait.
