Avoid Fake Domestic Worker Recruiters, Public Warned In Kuwait

Kuwait City, Kuwait: The domestic worker recruitment sector in Kuwait witnessed a period of stability during the recent Ramadan season, according to positive reports from Al-Durra Domestic Labor Recruitment Company. This improvement is attributed to a combination of factors. It includes a standardized recruitment fee set by the Ministry of Commerce and stricter enforcement measures by the Joint Committee overseeing labor recruitment offices.

Muhammad Fahd Al-Zoubi, General Manager of Al-Durra, highlighted a notable decrease in worker absconding and exploitation by some agencies. This coincides with the Ministry of Commerce’s decision to establish a fixed fee of 750 Kuwaiti dinars (KD) for domestic worker recruitment including airfare. Additionally, a decline in misleading advertisements offering temporary workers is believed to have contributed to a more stable market.

However, Al-Zoubi issued a warning to the public regarding the presence of fraudulent recruitment agencies. He emphasized that these fictitious entities, often using the logos and names of legitimate companies like Al-Durra on social media platforms, can be a significant factor in worker absconding. He urged citizens and residents to exercise caution and only engage with reputable, licensed recruitment agencies.

Al-Durra takes a firm stance against such impersonation. Al-Zoubi confirmed that the company pursues legal action against those who attempt to operate under their name and brand.
